Rýchly zosun hmôt/ The Fast Slippage of the Mass, 2013
I often use motives of landscapes and natural forces which are fascinating to me. I am attracted to the moment of monumentality which they comprehend. The Fast Slippage of the Mass was the installation created for the space of gallery Pavilon. Gallery Pavilon is based on concept of situations prepared especially for gallery space by invited artist. My situation The Fast Slippage of the Mass referred to the situation made by Slovak artist Štefan Papčo in 2009. Papčo created model of the mountain Brokeback Mountain linked to the real mountain free from its characteristics (wind intensity, subzero temperatures, etc.), still dominating the space. The visitor could not avoid contact with the mountain model. Papčo created the situation equivalent to the moment when we face the real mountain. My model of an avalanche was based on reverse principle dealing with decomposition of the mass. Object of an avalanche was minimised to 2D print. I like to think about the photography as a minimalistic sculpture. The image of avalanche was slightly manipulated while I was interested in the moment of simple stretching of the frozen motion.
